About this deal
I feel like I struck gold, found the golden ticket and discovered that Santa was real - all on the same day -, when I found this available as “read now” on NetGalley. In the last 20-25% of the book, so many things were thrown in, I just couldn't wade through them all. I also wanted to add that the plot was well thought-through, and the ending was surprising for sure! The points of view shift between former marriage counselor Jules, who lost her son, Gabe, in a car accident while she was driving, and Amber, whose son, Isaac, survived the accident. What Off the Deep End is about: A mother, her son and her sons friend crash into freezing waters and she thinks she grabs her son but realizes it’s the friend and then that friend goes missing I think a year later.
Sleep deprived brain dies that to you… But when looking closer I realised it’s a car sinking in water. Amber is convinced that Jules has some involvement while her shocked husband is expecting to hear their son is the third victim of the serial killer. The communion between reviewer and his public is based upon the presumption of certain possible joys in reading, and all our discriminations should curve toward that end. While I don’t think I really loved how everything ended up playing out, it was still a solid read and I can’t wait to explore more from her!
From the bestselling author of The Best of Friends comes a heart-stopping psychological thriller about the shades of truth and the power of lies in the wake of one mother’s unspeakable loss. Every chapter she's screaming at everyone to investigate Jules even though Jules is locked up in a psychiatric ward. No one seems above suspicion in Isaac’s disappearance, and everyone seems to have something to hide.
Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. I DONT LIKE THE USAGE OF THE SCHOOL SHOOTING ASPECT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLE WAAAAY DIFFERENTLY OR NOT AT ALL SHE BROUGHT UP THE KILLER AND COULDVE USED THAT OR HAD JULES BE THE ONE HOLDING HIM CAPTIVE BECAUSE SHE WENT OFF THE DEEP END AND USED HIM AS A REPLACEMENT SON? The whole video game thing wasn't even mentioned until 80% of the book was done, but yet it was crucial to Isaac's final act.
Giancarlo Granda is now ready to share the story of his years on an "only in America" rollercoaster ride through the monied corridors of power and profound hypocrisy. THEY DIDN'T SEND THE LETTERS DIRECTLY TO EACH OTHER FOR FEAR OF GETTING CAUGHT SO IT WAS WRITTEN IN CODES.
